Other things to do

Ok, I admit: Diesel has not been main priority this summer.
I have a new passion as well: IronButt (www.ironbutt.com)...

Funny what you can do on an old slow bike really!
Like driving around the Baltic sea (5000 km) in 3 days...
To do this you need to have some "farkles". Well, not exatly that you need them, but they sure are fun to have!

I started out with a bike for 500€, adding homemade heated handles and a 10 litre aux-tank to make the trip more enjoyable!

So here is how you make your own heated handles, ratbike style:
You need an well matched length of resistive wire. In my case the 20 yera old roll of heatingwire I have is thin so I need 0,8m to give me the well tested 10W / side.
Wrap the wire around the handle, fixing it with electrical tape, making sure there are no short circuits... Any shorts and you will sort of notice that as a burning sensation... So remember to add an inline fuse as well, preferrably close to the battery!
After that I always use a top layer of self-vulcanizing rubber tape, you know the type that has to be stretched and overlapped and only sticks to itself. Provides a nice rubbery and rather grippy surface.
Add an inline fuse and a switch, and you have made yourself a pair of heated grips for a cost of under 5€!

Drive far!
